Adding Honey to Your Tea Coffee or Hot Drinks as a Sweetener

Using honey as a sweetener for your hot beverages such as tea coffee or hot Chocolate

If you choose to use honey as a sweetener you need to be careful as to how much of this great natural product you use. I've had experience of this so I will tell you why you need to add the right amount.

One product I've found works well is the Honey Stick such as Floral Honeystix - Wildflower - 100% Honey - this gives you the correct amount of honey to sweeten your drink.

If you add too much honey you'll overpower the natural taste of your tea or beverage with the ultimate taste of honey. Using too much honey takes away the taste of your tea! What you’ll taste instead is an over-sweetened drink that has high sugar content and all the subtle flavors of your drink will have been eradicated.

It is recommended that you use about half a teaspoon of natural raw honey to sweeten your drink. Anymore and you have a tasty drink, but you'll miss many great flavors of your tea. Green tea as an example can lose its fresh taste if you add too much honey.

I’ve used a tablespoon before and with a great glob of honey it can easily overpower any natural tea or drink. With a great jar of honey though it is hard to be frugal, but you should really aim for as little honey as possible. Honey has its own unique flavor but when added to a drink it can easily dominate your taste buds.

Always choose a little honey when adding as a sweetener. The same thought process also applies to cooking.
