Having been to Russian in several occasions I have sampled the delights of pure Buckwheat honey and it has a very unique taste!
It is naturally dark in color with a very rich taste unlike other traditional flower honeys.
The location of the honey I found for sale is known as Bashkortostan near the Ural Mountains. The Bashkir people are famous throughout Russia as champion beekeepers and honey producers, indeed Bashkir honey is the only official honey that is taken into space - which is pretty unique!
It's raw and organic and comes from a pure area of the Russian Federation.
It's not often that you can purchase the real deal when it comes to Russian Honey. Buckwheat however is amongst the best, although I am not quite sure it rates as high as manuka honey, it is still nevertheless an exquisite honey from the Russian Motherland!
Buckwheat is considered one of the world's healthiest foods serving as an alternative to rice or porridge. It is usually served as a savory dish for breakfast or lunch and even dinner. The lovely scented flowers of Buckwheat are high in Manganese, Magnesium, Copper and Fibre and all of these essential minerals are passed on to the Raw Buckwheat Honey.
